Yeah appreciate the advice guys. After playing w/ this build more I've been using something pretty close to what JR posted....though putting in spirit bond as well might be nice. The prot skills are definitely invaluable to have w/ you. So much for being original lol.

Powerdrains hands down one of the best energy mangement skills in the game, only downside is that its extremely hard to use. VERY few people are proficient with powerdrain. im a very good interrupter and i have trouble running a powerdrain monk.

Agreed. But once you get good with it, it's heaven .

I play this BL:

Monk BL

Monk/Assassin

Divine Favor: 13 (11+3)
Healing Prayers: 11 (10+1)
Protection Prayers: 11 (10+1)
Shadow Arts: 1

Blessed Light [Elite] (Divine Favor)
Gift of Health (Healing Prayers)
Reversal of Fortune (Protection Prayers)
Signet of Devotion (Divine Favor)
Spirit Bond (Protection Prayers)
Guardian (Protection Prayers)
Holy Veil (Monk other)
Dark Escape (Shadow Arts)

Don't spam BL, use often Signet of Devotion and you needn't have e-management.

I can never remember their name. What is it again: garbok or gordac? Basicly a +20 insp recharge wand/focus.
And then I have the regular stuff like +60 healthstaff, low energy set, etc... hiding away in my weaponslots and inventory somewhere.

Okay sounds just like boon prot weapon sets

Would it be best to have a 10/10 +60hp staff for primary casting?

The spells don't really stick to one attribute.

I would not look at EviL's two blessed light monks as the model monk backline. There is a significant lack of raw healing power compared to having a boon prot or infuse/woh added to the mix. The only reason they get away with this is because of how well they use Gaurdian and Spirit Bond (note that Prot Spirit would be almost ineffective for their build) and more importantly the entire team is good at damage prevention. May it be the rarely seen proper use of distortion in their 3 mezmer build or effective kiting by the whole team. It is simply irreasonable to expect the average top 100 team to pull it off as effectively.

The pros of such a backline are in its flexibility and to be honest, its ability to counter sb/ri and other hex builds if played correctly (which is the reason they switched from one blessed to two).

Channeling takes a lot of practice to use effectively, but getting back 1-3 energy on every spell is the most convenient energy management I know of.
